NYCPM Holds White Coat Ceremony
The New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) held its annual White Coat Ceremony last week for 90 incoming students at Touro University's headquarters. Touro University President Alan Kadish, MD gave the opening remarks and welcome to the Class of 2030, followed by Jackie Prevete, DPM ('13), NYSPMA Treasurer, and Will Stallings, DPM ('23), who also welcomed the students. Peter Blume, DPM ('92), Chief of Podiatry at Yale University, gave the keynote presentation.

A new feature this year was that Mike Trepal, DPM, ('81), Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean, NYCPM put out a call to alumni to sponsor the White Coats and write a personal message for each sponsored coat, which creates a relationship and mentoring opportunity between the incoming student and an alum. Several NYSPMA members and other NYCPM Alums heeded the call. According to Dr. Trepal, "We hope this starts a new impactful tradition for the students and alums, establishing mentorships early on in their podiatric education."

The Bunion Fix is designed to be used on either foot and includes an interchangeable configuration intended to accommodate different foot sizes. According to an internal consumer study conducted across 37 podiatry offices in the United States, 432 patients tested the device. Treatmedy reports that 91% of participants reported reduced bunion pain beginning with the second session, while 88% reported visible improvements in toe alignment after 30 days of consistent use.
